Research Interests: My research interests are related with Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine. At the moment, I am manly focused on the development of molecularly designed hydrogels that mimic the natural extracellular matrix, to produce injectable pre-vascularized microspheres for tissue repair. I am author of 3 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 articles in international conference proceedings, 3 oral and 8 poster communications in scientific meetings.
Bio: I graduated in 2009 from Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal) in Biomedical Sciences. Later, in 2011 I finished my MS in Biomedical Engineering, from FEUP – Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (Porto, Portugal). In this context, I started my research activities at INEB – Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Porto, working in the bone regeneration field. From 2011 to 2013 I won two research assistant fellowships, from FEUP and INEB, where I had the opportunity to continue my research. In January 2014, I was accepted in the BiotechHealth Doctoral Programme from ICBAS – Instituto Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, University of Porto and awarded with a Doctoral Grant from FCT. My PhD research project, which is entitled “Development of pre-vascularized injectable microspheres for ischemic tissue repair” is being performed at INEB, under the supervision of Cristina Barrias, in collaboration with Eduardo Silva, from University of California, Davis.
